Microsoft completely redesigns Cortana for Android and iOS, here is what to expect : Microsoft doesn’t seem too content with how Cortana performs on mobile, hence the upcoming update that completely changes the app’s UI and brings new features focused on “conversational experiences” and other entertainment activities.
All the new improvements will be made available to Android and iOS users once Cortana 3.0 hits the stable channel. At the moment, anyone can test the new UI design and new features only if they’re enrolled in the beta program on either of the two mobile platforms. Long story short, here is what the new version of Cortana brings to Android and iOS users:
- An update to the UI enabling conversational experiences with Cortana and a new place to manage and set up your Cortana devices;
- Listen to music and podcasts on the go. Just ask Cortana to play your favorite tunes and podcasts with Spotify, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn on your phone or through a paired Bluetooth device;
- Stay organized and on task. Set reminders, timers and create meetings with your voice;
- Join your next Skype or Teams meeting by simply asking Cortana. You can also manage your calendar or send a quick email by voice.
If you’re already a beta tester for Cortana, but don’t see the new version yet, be patient since this seems to be a staged roll-out, so it will take some time to reach all beta testers.
